Unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’re pretty sure you’ve heard about oil pulling…the new health trend that everyone seems to be doing, talking about doing, or wondering if it actually does anything beneficial. 20 minutes swishing some oil around in your mouth to draw out toxins sounds…both disgusting and intriguing to us. Does it work? No, this is not the part where we tell you we tried it for a couple of weeks with X results. But after doing a little reading up on the subject it seems like coconut oil, at least, acts as a great organic substitute for mouth wash, with lots of antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. But really, there isn’t much formal data or studies to back the whole thing up (yeah, we know it’s an “ancient dental technique”, but we need science!). Have you tried it?
